Evendons Primary School temporary closure

Works have been carried out on Evendons Lane by Thames Water, and on Friday 30 September one of their tankers has collapsed in a sink hole previously identified on the road.

We have been advised by Thames Water to keep Evendons Primary School closed today (Monday 3 Oct) as access to the school has been deemed unsafe for children at this stage. We are receiving regular updates and will inform parents as soon as we have news.

A traffic diversion is in place, and we are working closely with Thames Water and Wokingham Borough Council to understand the work required to resolve this and open the school as soon and as safely as possible, hopefully tomorrow.

Should the school remain shut on Tuesday however, teachers will provide online live lessons via Google Meet. There will be 3 sessions a day at 9.00am, 11.00am and 1.00pm. If the school will need to move to online learning, Chrome books will be given out to those families without access to devices.

Please contact Thames Water’s press office for further information on its work to remove the tanker.

2.55pm: Evendons Primary School will not open tomorrow. We are working to find an alternative route for children to access the building. The school will be closed until a safe access route has been secured.

Tuesday 4 Oct: Evendon Primary School will open tomorrow Wed 5 Oct.
