EYFS Moderation Day: Bellevue Education & Bellevue Place Education Trust
On Tuesday 7 March 2017, Bellevue Education and Bellevue Place Education Trust held a joint Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) moderation session. The event was kindly hosted by Bellevue Education.
The aim of the day was to discuss moderation of EYFS and consider how we present our schools in their school evaluation, discussing recent changes to the inspection criterion.
Bellevue Education schools from the south and a number of schools from the BPET Trust attended.
The day was split into different sessions to enable the EYFS leaders to have smaller, more in-depth discussions. All the schools evaluated their work as a school looking at their key strengths and choosing a major area for EYFS development within their school.
The teachers also had the opportunity to moderate each other’s work from upper, middle and lower abilities. They looked at literacy and specifically writing.
Teachers agreed that this was a really informative and useful opportunity to compare EYFS in the independent and state sector and there is an end of year moderation session planned in mid-June.
