We are delighted to have recorded 97.7% attendance of pupils across our eight primary schools in London and Berkshire this week after eight weeks of Lockdown Remote Learning!
Whilst we had great attendance and engagement throughout remote learning, there is nothing like seeing our pupils and staff back together. As a group we had a Headteacher and BPET Team meeting on Tuesday and we feel this quote from Matt Parting, Headteacher Evendons Primary School says it all …
“I suddenly felt alive again, I just didn’t realise how flat I had been feeling, it dawned on me this is what school sounds like! It was lovely to hear the children playing outside, so nice not being such a quiet place.
I realise why I love being a teacher and so it wasn’t very hard for me to get up early this morning.”
It has been fantastic to see the breath of learning this week, which amongst normal curriculum plans has see a wide array of PE lessons, extended playtimes and even classroom discos! Some of our schools celebrated International Woman’s Day on Monday 8th, others embraced British Science Week focusing on STEM activities all week.
Haley House School, Hackney were also very proud to be visited on Monday 8th by global media agency AFP as they filmed and photographed their return to school. The photo’s were shared with Getty Images and are subject to copyright, but we have been able to see some use right across Europe and into the the Gulf and have shared a few images in this “back to school montage”
We would like to thank all our staff, who have worked so hard for a success return to school and also our pupils and parents/carers who have returned to school with such positivity, enthusiasm and focus!
We especially love this high tempo video from Evendons:
