Joint Staff Development Day
At the beginning of the spring term, on the 3rd January 2017, all staff across the Trust came together for collaborative training across all seven schools in the Trust. The sessions we led by Heads and Deputies across the Trust, with some high quality external providers. The session was at our first school, Rutherford House School in Balham and was split into several 1.5 hour sessions. The sessions were identified by the schools, with a theme of the day around the Trust’s approach to develop Thinking Skills status within the next few year. Other sessions included ‘Engaging Learning Environment’, ‘Tracking pupils with Classroom Monitor’ and ‘Developing a mastery approach to the planning and teaching of Maths’.
Evaluation from the 150 staff who attended the day was extremely positive – on average scoring the sessions 8.4 out of 10. With short, focussed sessions, the Heads reported that all staff went back to their schools buzzing with ideas and approaches they were looking to implement in their classrooms!
Some of the comments included:
- Sessions leaders were all very good
- A brilliant day, great to network with different schools and learn about best practice
- Felt very welcome and enjoyed networking
We look forward to holding an even bigger event next year – already set for 3 January 2018 – as the Trust continues to grow and we gain even more teachers in our schools!
