We are delighted to announce that Whiteknights Primary School in Wokingham will be converting to become a BPET School on 1 January 2022.
Whiteknights Primary School is a very popular two form entry school, with a nursery, serving a community to the east of Reading. The school was interested in becoming a BPET school as it likes the aspiration and ethos of the organisation, and it is keen to be part of successful group of schools that work across London and Berkshire.
BPET are delighted that such a strong school is keen to join our family of schools and look forward to the capacity this brings to the organisation. The Headteacher, Francois Walker, has been at Whiteknights for over 10 years and he is also a National Leader in Education, where he is funded to support improvement in other local, challenging schools. As a school that runs an English Hub, one of only three in the South East and were also a pilot school for the new Early Years Framework, the school has a great deal to offer the other schools in the academy trust.
Staff at the school will enrich the BPET organisation in terms of skills and provide the capacity to learn from them for professional development and improvement.
Judged to be a Good school by OfSTED in 2018, the inspector noted that the school has demonstrated strong practice and marked improvement in specific areas. They recommended that the next inspection be a section 5 inspection which provides an opportunity for the grading to be improved. Their last assessment outcomes in 2019 results were well above the national average and support this view.
We are delighted to say that governors at the school will continue to perform their role in the reformed Local Advisory Board (LAB). This is the structure operated within the BPET governance model, working with the BPET Board of Trustees.
