BPET Conference 2025

On Monday 3 November, we held our annual BPET conference at the Doubletree by Hilton hotel, welcoming around 200 staff members from across all 12 schools. This year’s theme - inclusion - shaped the day’s agenda, with sessions designed to deepen understanding, share best practices, and promote an inclusive learning environment for all our pupils.

The day began with a welcome from BPET Chief Executive Mark Greatrex and  keynote speaker, Catrina Lowri, founder and director of Neuroteachers. Catrina went on to lead three sessions throughout the day, attended by all staff, encouraging reflection from the perspective of a neurodivergent pupil and offering practical strategies to incorporate inclusive values into everyday practice.

One attendee shared what they will take forward: “Ensuring every child feels listened to and goes home feeling like they matter are included and belong in my classroom. Providing opportunities for a child to thrive and show their talents no matter what the challenges. Creating an inclusive environment through communication and building relationships with all staff and parents.”

Staff also chose from a range of workshops,  ranging from  inclusive teaching,  creating accessible environments, to inclusive use of Google Classroom, and leadership training sparking meaningful dialogue and guidance. The day concluded with reflective discussions, where staff shared key takeaways and explored how to apply inclusive practices in their own settings.

While the main event was held at the Doubletree by Hilton, BPET support staff participated in tailored sessions hosted at other BPET schools, many led by our knowledgeable Trust Champions, ensuring that all staff had access to relevant professional development opportunities.

BPET Chief Executive Mark Greatrex reflected: “The conference was a reminder that inclusive practice starts with empowered staff, which is why we invest in meaningful professional development and create opportunities for our staff to grow. When our staff thrive, our pupils do too, and they remain at the heart of everything we do.”
