Train to become a primary school teacher
We offer our School Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) programme in partnership with Teach First. Our approach is to train teachers as individuals, just like we teach our pupils: individualised learning is at the heart of what we do.
This postgraduate programme has been judged outstanding by Ofsted, is one year long and involves an effective combination of live training in class, self-directed study and one-to-one support.
The programme is ideal for people who are eager to learn on the job and make a difference in their community from day one, whilst developing skills in the classroom. You will interact with children every day, and work as a member of teaching staff in a school local to you.
You’ll receive plenty of practical experience, as well as subject-specific training, and a deep understanding of effective teaching methods. You'll be supported by an experienced mentor throughout the year. The final qualification is awarded by Sheffield Hallam University.

Where will I train?
We have teamed up with the Campfire Education Trust and the Avanti Schools Trust, so you have the opportunity to train in one of 20 schools across the Midlands and South East of England, either:
- one of the 12 BPET schools across London and Berkshire
- one of the six Campfire Education Trust schools across West Northants, Milton Keynes and Buckinghamshire
- one of the Avanti Trust schools in Stanmore or Essex.
Getting lots of active experience teaching in a classroom with feedback from a supportive mentor. Support from lead mentors was amazing, they were very on top of it and so helpful with responding to any concerns or queries.
