Evendons Primary School extension building works

Evendons Primary School is an Outstanding primary school in Wokingham. It is part of BPET and it is the first STEM school of the area, founded in 2014. Since then, the school has gone from strength to strength, has become the school of choice within the community and is now oversubscribed.

Major expansion works have recently started to widen the Reception and Year 1 classrooms in order to welcome 60 children every year (for a total of 420 pupils across all year-groups), which is an 11% increase on the current admission numbers.

Such a major investment has been possible through the opportunities that being part of a multi-academy trust provides. Increased capacity means offering 42 spaces across the school and will enhance the funding to benefit all pupils to receive a broad education offer, with further exciting curriculum opportunities.

Headteacher Stacey Read is delighted that this expansion project has started. She says: “We are looking forward to the increased capacity and the improvement of the infrastructure. We want the best for the children and this expansion will help in offering more children the best facilities and education possible.”

Mark Greatrex, BPET Chief Executive, says: “Our focus always rests with the pupils and the breadth of opportunities we can offer them. Investing in the building means that we are investing in their future, by improving the facilities offered as well as the infrastructure they spend so much time in. This is the biggest financial investment we embarked on as a trust; we are immensely proud of Evendons’ fantastic work and reputation, and we’ll do all we can to support their growth.”

The building works are scheduled to be completed before the next academic year starts in Sept 2023. Wokingham Local Authority has been fully supportive of the expansion.
