Whitehall Park School Celebrated by TfL

Whitehall Park School has been officially recognised by Transport for London (TfL) as an inspiring school for its outstanding efforts to boost active travel by encouraging families to choose walking, cycling, or scooting for the daily school run.

Out of about 1,500 schools participating in TfL’s Travel for Life programme, Whitehall Park School was selected as one of just 18 standout schools nominated by local councils for their inspiring commitment to creating a safer, greener, and healthier environment.

This achievement was celebrated at a special 'Inspiring Success' awards ceremony hosted by London’s Walking and Cycling Commissioner, Will Norman.

Celebrating the announcement, BPET Chief Executive Officer, Mark Greatrex, shared his pride in the school's accomplishment: "Congratulations to Whitehall Park School for being recognised for their outstanding efforts to boost active travel to school by Transport for London. This is a key drive across all Bellevue Place Education Trust schools to encourage families to walk, cycle or scoot to school. Great achievement!"

Active travel is fundamental to building a sustainable future and supporting pupil wellbeing. By choosing active travel,  our pupils are boosting their physical health and mental alertness before the school day begins, as well as actively improving local air quality and reducing traffic congestion around the school gates. This directly aligns with TfL’s wider city initiatives, such as the Healthy Streets approach, which aims to make London’s roads safer and more welcoming for young people.

To be selected as one of the top 18 schools in London is a testament to the hard work of Whitehall Park School's staff, and pupils, and parent community. Congratulations to everyone for this brilliant achievement, and we look forward to seeing these sustainable travel habits continue to grow across our trust.
